2025 Judicial Races

To the right are our Democratic candidates for the judicial races in the Nov 4th, 2025, election.

These are the individuals running for the PA Judicial races, which also includes those running for retention. The 2025 judicial elections have the potential to significantly shape the legal landscape and impact the daily lives of citizens in states across the United States, including Pennsylvania, on a wide range of important issues.

What is judicial retention, and why does it matter for Supreme Court balance?

Pennsylvania voters will be asked on Nov. 4 whether to give three judges on the state Supreme Court more time on the bench.

Retention elections are nonpartisan, so when judges appear on the ballot, there’s no party affiliation listed and no opposing candidate. Voters are simply asked to vote “yes” or “no” on whether a judge should remain in office for another ten-year term. If the judge is retained, they continue serving; if not, the governor appoints a temporary replacement, subject to approval by the state Senate. Since appellate judges play a significant role in shaping state policy and decisions that affect our daily lives, it’s important to retain Democratic judges to help maintain balance and fairness in the courts.
